Museum Puri Lukisan

Puri Lukisan Museum

• Open daily: 9am-6pm
• The oldest art museum in Bali, it was built to save local, traditional paintings and wood carvings and to make sure that historic art was not lost when the export of Balinese art became widespread.
• Exhibits include: Batuan painting, Sanur painting, Ubud painting, young artists, and wood carving.
• There are permanent exhibits as well as temporary exhibits.
• There is a store and a café overlooking the garden and lotus pond.
• There are workshops that guests can partake in such as playing the gamelan, traditional painting, classic painting, batik painting, flute playing, mask painting, Balinese dancing, basketry, and offering making (each at an additional cost).

Neka Art Museum

Museum Neka

• Open Mon-Sat: 9am-5pm; Sunday 12pm-5pm (+62 – 361) 975074
• Made up of several traditional Balinese buildings.
• Established in 1976, it now contains over 300 pieces.
• The many collections include: Classic Puppet style paintings, Traditional Balinese style paintings, Ubud style paintings, Batuan style paintings, Art of Arie Smit, Young artists, Contemporary Balinese paintings, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad art, Contemporary Indonesian art, and foreign art.
• The main structures are for permanent displays and there is a separate building for temporary exhibitions.

Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA)

ARMA Museum

• Opened in 1996 the ARMA has a large permanent collection on exhibit along with some temporary exhibitions
• There are also theatre performances, along with dance, music, & painting classes
• Paintings are by Balinese, Indonesian, and foreign artists who have lived and worked in Bali
• The collection ranges from the traditional to contemporary/modern styles
• There is a bookshop, library, reading room, & cultural workshops.
• There is a Kamasan collection, Pre-war collection, and a collection of foreign works.
• Beautiful 6-hectare property with surrounding gardens

Don Antonio Blanco Museum

Blanco Museum

• Antonio Blanco was a Spanish, Philippine-born artist who lived and worked in Florida and California and then as a source of inspiration he traveled to Hawaii, Japan, and Cambodia before moving to Bali in 1952. He is the most famous artist to have ever lived in Bali
• In 1953 he married a Balinese dancer and never left. She bore him four children.
• Museum began construction in 1998. He passed away 1 year later in 1999, just before it’s opening.
• Antonio Blanco worked up until his death, and his studio remains undisturbed to this day, with an unfinished painting still on the easel.
• He is famous for his fantasy portraits of beautiful women
